The Container Apps can be created under Project > Settings > Deployment.
Prerequisites
- Publish the Default/Custom Login app created in Library > Logins.
- Publish EdgeReady Apps created in the APM.
Now a new mobile/web app (Container app) is ready to be generated.
If changes are made to Login apps or EdgeReady Apps after container app generation, ensure to publish the latest versions in APM of Login micro app and EdgeReady Apps.
- The Login App changes are reflected in the mobile or web app after logout and re-login.
- The EdgeReady App changes are reflected when the user exits the micro app and opens it again.
Choosing App Type
While creating a container app, the user can choose the App Type based on the business requirement:
- Progressive Web Apps are traditional web applications enhanced with modern web technologies to have a more app-like experience
- Hybrid Apps are built using HTML web screens (HTML/CSS Javascript) and are rendered into the device. The UI/UX will be similar across all mobile and web applications.
- Native Apps are designed for a particular device (based on the OS).
Choosing Distribution
The Apps developed in the EdgeReady cloud could be installed on the devices that work on various operating systems like iOS, Android, or Windows.
In the EdgeReady Cloud, the Mobile App can have one of the following distribution types:
1. Enterprise: The Apps developed in the EdgeReady cloud are only for use within a specific organization and not globally published. Organizations use various types of Mobile Device Management Solutions (MDMs), which allow users to download Apps through the OTA URL.
2. App Store: The EdgeReady Apps are uploaded in Playstore, or an App Store for the users to download on their devices.
